Artists and Artworks Patricia Frida
Native of Austria, the Artist Photographer - Painter, Patricia Frida, constantly changes her world map (and therefore ours), from Paris to New York, from Mumbai to Paros, from Barcelona to Sao Paulo from Miami to Tokyo...,capturing, the mark of nowadays, with finesse and nuances.

Body, emotions, faces, colors or scratches lead to harmony by themselves (a movinglike feeling...) in her Artworks in order to transport us into her dreamlike world. Between two lines of newspaper, one guesses a familiar form even if it is yet consciously unknown.

Our mind stops there, then gets lost for a delightful journey, coloured by unconscious memories, fantasies, fleeting laughter, water or caveslike and then slowly...comes back to reality, after a cloudy dream ...

It is a real dream's imprint that the artist coats on her paintings, giving them both, conscience and salience.

    I am an artist,
It means freedom to me and as an ex-fashion photographer, i had to work with many people in a team. The position of the photographer is to create a balance between everybody, which was very exhausting, so i decided to work on my own. This happened 15 years ago in paris when i was printing a lot of photos in my dark room . When i looked at the pile of bad prints i was sad to throw them away, so i started to use paint and chemicals to transform the original impression.

A few years later i moved to ny.ny. Where you have to think big and my work was growing. That's where i started to transfer my images on big canvas. My favorite tool is my FE2 nikon. Photography is the base of my work.

I enjoy and love to take portraits of interesting people; that moment of intimacy when they are looking at me through my lense and i am catching the right moment to mirror them. I am very happy when i am able to make that person look beautiful. The nicest compliment i got was, when one of my clients told me, that i photographed his soul. My favorite material is paper. First of all i print on it, afterwards i transfer the print to canvas and then i cover parts of the canvas with all different kind of papers.

I never worry about running out of materials, i always find a solution, for example , like using curry powder when i have no more orange pigments, my favorite colour is blue, i guess, it defines freedom, water , sky and mystery to me, it is also the colour of healing .

When my work is going well, i am filled with a sense of harmony and fulfillment. When i creat an image, i forget everything around me and it's a kind of meditation, where i get my energy back and i feel joyful when i don't think about what i am doing, it's just happening, like someone is working through me.

My flexibility and spontaneity reflexes my personality, i never know where i am going, i just go and let it happen and then magic comes to me.
